This meditation technique as mentioned in Vigyan Bhairav Tantra text is a dynamic variation of the previous one, using the intense visualization of electrical flashes to achieve the ultimate experience of pure, unconditional love.
The Flash of Enlightenment: Energy Jumping from Center to Center
The instruction proposes a different, more kinetic form of energy visualization:
Meditate on the energy in the form of lightning, ascending from energy center to energy center till the highest center. In the end, experience Great Love rising. (Verse 29)
Unlike the subtle and steadily fading ray of light in the previous verse, this practice visualizes the energy as powerful, successive flashes, like lightning. This suggests a more sudden, explosive movement of energy from one chakra to the next.
Practice Instructions (Kinetic Visualization)
This is a direct Kundalini-raising visualization exercise:
-
Posture: Sit comfortably with eyes closed.
-
Dynamic Visualization: Imagine the energy rising from the root center (Mooladhara) not as a continuous stream, but in distinct, powerful flashes. See the energy jumping “from center to center successively upwards” until it reaches the highest center (Sahasrara Chakra).
-
Continuous Awareness: The key is to keep the awareness continuously following the light as it flashes upwards.
-
Restart: Once the light reaches the Sahasrara, immediately restart the flashing ascent from the root center.
The Goal: An Ocean of Love
The final promise of this practice is a powerful emotional and spiritual breakthrough: “In the end, experience Great Love rising.”
-
The commentary explains that as Kundalini begins her ascent, the practitioner feels a “great feeling of love and joy,” which keeps increasing.
-
When the energy reaches the top center, the individual is liberated and experiences “an ocean of love.”
-
The ultimate state is becoming pure, unconditional love itself: “One becomes love, one is love – pure, unconditional love.”
Warning: Practices that directly try to raise Kundalini are “very powerful” and can be “dangerous,” mandating the guidance of a master. Stop immediately if any discomfort is felt.
